A letter from Hallie

Hometown girl returns home: Get to Know Our New Publisher

By Hallie April 10, 2020

Hi! It’s a funny time in the world to be starting something new but when an amazing opportunity arises, no matter the timing, I am a believer that we have to jump all in.  This is why I’m so excited to introduce myself as your new publisher for Macaroni Kid Huntington, Dix Hills and Melville.

To start, my name is Hallie.  I am a serial entrepreneur having founded an award winning vitamin brand, a charity that raises money for cancer related causes, and an author of a top selling health and nutrition book.  Lately my attention has shifted to being home with my son and daughter, but the opportunity to be the publisher for Macaroni Kid for our neighborhood came to my attention, it seemed like the perfect fit.

For me, this is the best way to combine my love of writing with my passion for being a mom and my desire to highlight all of the amazing things taking place in/around Melville, Dix Hills and Huntington.

While I am new to this position, I am not exactly new to the area.I actually grew up in Melville and now my husband, 2 kids and I live in Dix Hills after living in NYC for many years.   While many people often question those who return home, I think that’s only because they didn’t grow up in a place like this.

From downtown Huntington to spacious parks in Melville to kid focused play spaces and classes in Dix Hills, there are so many cool and fun things to do in our towns all year long.

My family, friends, and colleagues have always looked to me for recommendations on activities, health/nutrition, fashion, restaurants, concerts, children and mom "stuff", and I can’t wait to share all of these local events and recommendations with each of you.

I, however, don’t pretend to know it all, especially with all that is currently going on in the world.  If you have virtual classes or events, please let me know and I would love to share them with our community.  If you have a small business that can use some love and attention, please let me know as I would love to help bring attention to what you do and how we can help during these times.  If you are hosting a fundraiser or know of someone who is on the front lines or helping those that are, please let me know.  You can always reach me via email at halliep@macaronikid.com

On the lighter side, if you have amazing crafts, recipes, educational tips, or activities that are making the days more bearable and more fun for you and your family, please share them with me so I can share them with all of you.We are all looking for support, help and a few laughs too.

This town has, is and always will be my home and I hope you learn to think of me as your friend and neighbor who you turn to for what’s happening in and around the area.

Wishing you safety and health during these times and here’s to better days ahead!
